My mother said that the food was excellent. Charlie is a wonderful chef and is happy to customize the meal for the needs of the patient. They let family visitors have dinner for just $3 per person so I can attest to how good the food is.
My boyfriends father went from assisted living to a hospital for a week and then on to Chelsey for rehabilitation. The facilities are beautiful. He enjoyed the food and the company of other patients and nurses. The CNAs Jamie and Katie were so compassionate and the charge nurse Vivian was such a huge help when he passed away there. He was 85 and a blood clot took him from us. I highly recommend this facility for those loved ones that thrive on attention, compassion and dedication while making sure he did his physical therapy every day. God bless the people at Chelsey.
A couple concerns: They said that they would shower her every other day, and it did not happen that often. My mother says that was partly a problem of timing since she had to be dressed in time for her physical therapy session when the staff arrived to give her a shower. Also, my mother said that the bed was too hard so we brought in a mattress cover from home.
A superstar facility! The people, the facility, the food, the facility, the treatment and oh yes, the facility! In a world where similar PT rehab facilities are mostly dark, dank, smelly overcrowded and full of poorly warehoused members of the Greatest Generation, this place was truly a wonderful find! They nursed my 92 yo Mom back to health! The staff, both the day to day and the physical therapy staff were outstanding. Dahlonega should be very proud of this wonderful facility! My sister and I became so disappointed while looking over similar treatment facilities in the north Atlanta area! Then we found Chelsey Park! I cannot speak highly enough of their efforts! If you can get in to this state of the art facility, do so!
The facility is brand new, beautifully designed with views of the mountains- it felt like she was staying in a resort. The staff are real people and super friendly. The place has a friendly, small town culture where every one knows your name. My mother said the nurses were very nice, concientous and professional. She really liked the physical therapy staff and she said that they spent plenty of time with her twice a day to help her recover her mobility. Chelsey Park has a "Main Street" wing where they simulate real-life activities: getting in and out of an actual car, getting out of a soft sofa, and practicing shopping in an market.
my dad has been here a week and just got a bath at 4:30 am. The call light stayed on 5 hours and then was turned off when he needed care. This place is a horror. . The staff are wonderful. There is not enough of them. Even the staff confirms this 2 CNA s per floor and 1 nurse for the entire floor is against the law in any state.
They did a great job in keeping the room, sheets and facility clean. My mother said that the staff was very responsive whenever she rang the buzzer. She did not like the idea of have a male assistant take her to the bathroom, and they accommodated her wishes. She always had a female assistant help her shower. I was amazed when the staff told me that they get together each morning and pray for the patients - I bet that does not happen in many rehab centers!
We were very impressed with both the staff and services at Chelsey Park in Dahlonega. I liked that this center is run by a state-wide non-profit that provides health services rather than a for-profit corporation.
My mother is 90 and we needed to find a rehabilitation center after she broke her hip in March 2016. I just read the negative review posted last week and it is clear that this family had a bad experience. I trust that the administrator is addressing the personnel who did not do their jobs properly.I am writing this review because we had a hard time finding reviews for Chelsey Park, and I hope this will help give a balanced perspective on the quality of the center.
I wanted to transfer my father here and had his current facility send all the paperwork requested to Chelsey Park admissions. I called several times leaving messages for an update and to this day (weeks later) no one has returned my call. I was told by the facility my dad is in that the offer had been rescinded but Chelsey Park would not give a reason. My contact at A Place for Mom stated that they have a new admissions person. Obviously, they still need a new admissions person.
