My husband and I used to love this place, it was our go to for dinner in this small town. Our past few visit have been terrible. We even walked out due to not being acknowledged for more than 10 minutes with servers and hosts walking past us. The owner is always there and he is VERY nice. The food is not up to par and the staff (mainly the staff downstairs) are rude, inviting and dress like they are headed to the beach. This is too nice of a place for it to go down hill. I hope it gets better, we no longer think about going to Back Porch.
Went here for lunch during Gold Rush Days, got appetizer crab dip, and Fish tacos, 14.00 for each item. Pita chips were stale and 2 tablespoons of crab dip!!! Fish tacos was only one and marginal at best. Not a good value for the money. Complained and didn't seem to matter. Also served on plastic plates with plastic forks. And beer in a plastic cup. Sad. This place used to be great.
We live on the coast of Ga and were blown away at how fresh and delicious our seafood choices were. Great customer service in a nice comfortable atmosphere. The fish and chips were better than some we have had in British pubs. Truly a treasure in a lovely little mountain town.
We really wanted go to seafood restaurant in the mountains, went for our anniversary, ordered the oyster Rockefeller and wedge salad for appetizers. 6 oysters for $14.50, none any bigger than a nickel. And served on a large platter without any small dish offered. Same with the wedge salad, we took turns eating from the large dish. I wanted the sea scallops as my entree, but they were sold out. Got shrimp and bay scallops penne pasta. The bay scallops were so tiny, they looked like tapioca in the pasta. My husband got the seafood platter after being assured "it was fried fabulousness on a plate". He said it was the worst he's ever had (and he is not picky). $93 for two people, no drinks. Never again!!
Danielle at the front door was great and Chelsea the bartender was awesome, professional yet personable. I waited an hour for a dozen raw oysters and when they came there was no horseradish or cocktail sauce. At one point the owner was sitting in the corner having a drink of some kind, but was not interacting with any customers. Inexcusable. There was a large mass of people in town for the Christmas lights on the square, but the ownership should have anticipated this. Had it not been for tbe hospitality of Chelsea we would not have stayed past one drink.
